Coastal trolling

Diving minnows and small lures trolled along the whitewater line, the reefs and the bait schools. The way to cover water and find the active fish: bluefish and leerfish in the foam, bass over the rock heads, amberjack when the school holds deeper.

Season: Spring through autumn along the Atlantic coast, when the pelagics run the shoreline.
Tackle: Light conventional or spinning outfits 20–40 lb, diving minnows 12–18 cm, fluorocarbon leaders.
